Malene Hartmann Rasmussen nominated (again)

Malene Hartmann Rasmussen has been nominated for the Perrier-Jouët Arts Salon for a second time. The prize brings to life the original spirit of the Salon, drawing together an eclectic and dynamic group of members to share ideas and debate on developments in the Arts, with a philanthropic goal at its heart. The Salon supports the selection of an annual prize winner who receives a substantial sum and experiences to support him/her in the development of their career.  Every Spring guided by Tony Chambers, Editor-in-Chief of Wallpaper* and Chair of the Perrier-Jouët Arts Salon for 2014, the Salon members select a UK-based emerging talent in Contemporary Craft. A strong sense of craftsmanship and beauty should be at the centre of their work, reflecting the style of Champagne Perrier-Jouët.

Overlap's Forest Tree selected for the STRP Biennale by director Angelique Spaninks as part of the Sedition programme.

MALENE HARMAN RASMUSSEN WINS JERWOOD MAKERS OPEN 2015

The Jerwood Makers Open promotes the significance of making and materials within the visual arts arena. It seeks to support exceptional skill and imagination, looking broadly at how contemporary artists are defining or challenging the boundaries of what has traditionally been described as applied arts.

On the submission process and final selection, the panel commented: ‘Whittling down the finalists from this year’s record number of entries was genuinely tough. In the end the five chosen displayed a high level of technical skill combined with imagination and intellectual adventure. They are all attempting to take their practice in a new direction. 2015’s Jerwood Makers Open promises to be an exhilarating exhibition.’

Malene will exhibit at Jerwood Visual Arts in London in July/August 2015. For more details visit their website.

The Lion & Lamb Gallery's Summer Salon Show (always a brilliant place to see works by well-respected names alongside gems by lesser-known talents) runs to the end of the month before travelling to Caroline Wiseman's Aldeburgh Beach South Lookout Project. The fantastic line-up includes Dominic Beattie, Biggs & Collings, Graham Crowley, Natalie Dower - and our very own Hester Finch. For anyone interested in exploring this creative pocket of Suffolk (me), it'll be a brilliant time to visit. The private view takes place on Sunday 21st September 11am-4pm.

Katrina Blannin is currently featuring in two exhibitions: Conversations Around Marlow Moss at & Model Gallery, Leeds (details HERE) and Perfectionism at the Griffin Gallery, London (details HERE). Catch them if you can!
