JAMES BROOKS

James Brooks is interested in transformation. The artist takes information - group data, graphic design, place names, book titles - and, through a variety of (slight to laborious) interventions, transforms it into new visual arrangements. The finished works offer a wry commentary on the original source material and/or our evaluation or understanding of it, but also stand alone as triumphs in aesthetic simplicity.

Since completing his MA in Fine Art at Chelsea College of Art, Brooks has exhibited widely, both in the UK and internationally. His work is held in collections including The University of Arts London, Thaddaeus Ropac, The Gottesman Collection and David Roberts Arts Foundation. Brooks lives and works in London.
